AS A SINGLE MOM WORKING AT A DINER, I LOST SIGHT OF MY SON—WHAT HE SAID TO A FIREFIGHTER LEFT US ALL IN TEARS

Working at a small diner, I had to bring my four-year-old son, Micah, to work when my babysitter canceled.

He was excited to wear his firefighter costume and I set him up in a booth while I handled the dinner rush. But when I looked up, he was gone. Panic hit as I searched the diner and finally found him in the arms of a firefighter, crying.

Micah looked up and said, “It’s okay. You saved them. My daddy says you’re a hero.” I realized the firefighter had been my late husband’s close friend. Micah had unknowingly made a deep connection

Before leaving, the firefighter gave Micah a silver badge that had once belonged to my husband. Micah promised to keep it forever. The firefighter told us my husband would be proud, and I realized love never ends—it stays in memories and unexpected moments.
